Family cancer prompts charity run - BBC News


A seven-year-old girl is taking portion in a charity race after respective members of her household suffered from cancer.


Georgia Hitchen, from Pentre Berw, Anglesey, will be running Cancer Research UK's Race for Life in June with her great-aunt, Denyse Mortimer.


Mrs Mortimer's boy was diagnosed with malignant neoplastic disease and died when he was three. She was also diagnosed with breast malignant neoplastic disease three old age ago.


Georgia said members of her "family are very proud of her".


She have put a mark of £100 for the 5km course of study and have been supported by her school, Ysgol Esceifiog in Gaerwen.

"I've decided to run because tons of my household have got had cancer," Empire State Of The South said.


"I've been practicing in the 30, 40, 50 Baseball Club in school every Friday. My household are very proud and my friends are excited," she added.


Mrs Mortimer, 60, ran the race in Rhyl last twelvemonth and thought it a perfect event for Empire State Of The South to take part in.


"It's a ace course of study to run - I did it for the first clip last twelvemonth and when I was running it I realised there were a batch of children taking part.


"It was flat, by the sea and it's something I knew Empire State Of The South would really, really enjoy," she said.


After her boy St Simon was diagnosed with cancer, Mrs Roger De Mortimer said her hubby ran a endurance contest to raise money for a malignant neoplastic disease charity for children.


After recovering word form her breast cancer, she also decided to make something to assist others in the similar situations.


Georgia's mother, The Queen City Hitchen, 26, said seven members of their household have got had cancer. Her uncle is currently undergoing treatment for intestine cancer.


"I'm really pleased she decided to run the Race for Life, I believe she's running for a really really good cause which is quite fold to our Black Maria in this household as we have got got had quite a few people - living and people who have died," Mrs Hitchen said.


She was thrilled with the response and support from the local community.


"Everybody tried to acquire involved in any manner they can. We've had a batch of people phoning to patronize Empire State Of The South and parents from the school have got been making donations," Mrs Hitchen added.
